Googling Yourself Pays Off

By Stephanie Kuehnert

Today I planned to write a blog about a regular day in my life because once you get a contract for a book it doesn’t suddenly make every single day exciting. You may obsessively check your email for any little bit of news from your agent or editor, but days and sometimes weeks go by without any word. Now the last month or so has been more exciting. I’ve gotten my cover, page proofs, did my first newspaper interview. And I guess things should be gearing up seeing as come tomorrow the release of I WANNA BE YOUR JOEY RAMONE is officially 5 months away… Crap! that probably means I have a lot of work to do… But anyway today seemed to be one of those plain ol’ days where I was just juggling-a-day-job-writing-time-and-social-life Stephanie, not soon-to-be-published-author Stephanie. Then, I came across this blog post on Melissa Marr’s Live Journal where she talks about my book. Umm, yeah, the Melissa Marr, who wrote WICKED LOVELY, which is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. She is reading an early copy of my book and she likes it so much that she blogged about it. This is one of those moments that will go right up there with finding out I sold the book, finding out an author I really admire digs the book and in fact doesn’t just dig it, she totally gets the essence of what it’s all about. I mean to put this in musical terms like I tend to. If I were a rock star, this would be like finding out Kurt Cobain liked my first record. It’s that cool, seriously. So thanks, Melissa.
